Creating a Human Resource Strategy

With a successful business comes a successful business plan and a human resource strategy. Without such a strategy there is bound to be something that is lost at the wayside. Often times if the plan is not laid out and followed carefully followed then it can affect the business plan. It is necessary to create a human resource map that follows the mission of the company itself. This allows everyone involved to visualize what activities need to be executed in order to achieve success.

After examining the company’s mission, core value system and overall goals it is time to get started with the Human Resources strategy. Work on a mission statement for the HR department if their isn’t one already. Examine goals, project management, objectives, employee performance evaluations and job descriptions. Once you have an understanding of the goals and objectives of the company and the HR department you need to determine if they are in sync with one another‘s core values, vision and basic mission. The departments in which to examine are finances, internal, organizational capability, stockholders and customers.

The Human Resource mission statement should include a description of employees job descriptions and specific activities that staff are required to perform that enhance and compliment the company’s vision. Create a plan for each of the sections of the company: finances (this can be helped with payroll software), internal, organizational capability, stockholders and customers. Each one of these requires a strategy from the HR department that involve goals, job descriptions, project planning, specific performance acceptability and a performance review system.

In order to explain or show how the Human Resources goals and plans match up with the company’s vision, it may be necessary to create a flow chart. This is a great way to help employees and staff to stay focused on the end result. Keeping something visual readily available allows you to focus on goals daily.
