Morale and Motivation

The importance of motivation and its effects on the business project is a well established and well discussed or written aspect. Extensive material on the importance or effects of motivation, both self motivation as well as that effected by the business house itself, has been documented. However the method to establishing a culture that fosters motivation amongst the workers of the company has not been well researched or documented as yet.

Motivational programs that are implemented by a company with just surface awareness of all the intrinsic details of the program are mostly short lived, as far as the effect on the manpower goes. In most cases, realising the defeat of the particular program by its nil effect syndrome, the management tends to bring in a fresher program which meets the same fate in a short span of time. There is a sporadic effect on motivation of employees experienced in this manner.

The need is to create a long standing organisation wide program that boosts morale which thereby effects the motivation in a positive manner – you could try using some human resource software to help you.

The process needs to be an integrated one so that one and all in the company are affected in a similar manner. Piece meal motivational program would never achieve that which an integrated approach would.

The motivational programs of this class supports the effort to raise the very moral fibre of the entire organisation as also the communication skill and ease between all levels of work force. The importance of every individual in the organisation is brought to their notice and this in itself acts as the motivational factor.

It is also a good option to assess the company’s morale and motivation level before plunging or selecting any program which claims to improve the motivation factor. The yardsticks which have been used for this preliminary study should be recorded and its changes due the motivational program implemented are to be scaled continuously. Only then can a true assessment of the programme’s assessment be ascertained.
